A Brief History of San Diego
San Diego, California is a city located in southern California, and is the second largest city in the state. The city has a population of approximately 1.3 million residents. San Diego is known as the "Beach City" and it is also known for its many historical sites, museums, and other tourist attractions.
San Diego was founded by the Spanish explorer Juan Manuel de Ayala in 1769. It became an important port for trade with Mexico, and was a stopover point for travelers between Mexico and the rest of the United States.

As a result of this treaty, San Diego became part of the United States.
San Diego was strongly impacted during World War II. In 1943, the USS Arizona was sunk at Pearl Harbor. The next year, San Diego became the home of the U.S. Navy's Pacific Fleet. In the 1940s, San Diego was the site of a large number of military bases, including Fort Rosecrans, Camp Pendleton, and Camp Elliott.
Since WWII, San Diego has grown significantly and is now an influential metropolitan hub featuring numerous museums, professional sports teams and has also become a great place to experience live music.
